FTIR in Microbiological and Medical Diagnostics

First Announcement of the 11th Workshop
FT-IR Spectroscopy in Microbiological and Medical Diagnostics
hosted by the Robert Koch-Institute Berlin
October 19-20, 2017

It is our great privilege to cordially invite you to attend the 11th Workshop “FT-IR Spectroscopy in Microbiological and Medical Diagnostics“. The workshop will be held at the Robert Koch-Institute in Berlin (Germany) on October 19-20, 2017.

The Scope

The 2017 Workshop will continue the tradition of highlighting evary two years the relevant fields of applications of biomedical vibrational spectroscopy and will bring together scientists using infrared and Raman spectroscopic techniques for the characterization and differentiation of intact microbial, plant, animal or human cells to promote exchange of ideas, experiences, and practical problem solutions. Following the lines of our last workshops in Berlin, major points of discussion will be the progress in vibrational spectroscopic research, recent applications in various fields of microbiology, bio-medicine and new technological developments.

Topics

  • Microspectroscopic characterization of microbial colonies, biofilms, population analyses, single cell investigations
  • Diagnostics in bio-medicine
  • Microspectroscopic studies of individual human cells
  • Cell/drug interaction, resistance development and testing
  • Epidemiological studies, maintenance of culture collections, therapy control, investigation of infection chains, hygiene control
  • Microbiological analyses in the pharmaceutical, food, and water supply industries, and in biotechnology
  • New trends in spectral data analysis

Organizers

Mareike Wenning (TU Munich)
Jürgen Schmitt (Synthon GmbH, Heidelberg)
Peter Lasch (RKI Berlin)
