PDRA – Coherent Raman Spectroscopy

Post doctoral position in Coherent Raman Spectroscopy at the University of Exeter with Julian Moger

This 3-year project will involve working closely with a UK based laser manufacturer (M-Squared Lasers, Ltd) to develop and validate a novel ultrafast laser source for Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) microscopy. SRS microscopy has emerged as a powerful tool to generate signals from vibrational spectroscopy to provide label-free mapping of biomolecules in real-time. However, due to the specialised laser requirements, this technique is currently confined to specialised laboratories with the resources and expertise to operate compex laser systems. This project aims to develop a novel compact laser module that can be used with existing multiphoton fluoroescence microscopes to enable CRS microscopy.

The project will involve constructing novel instrumentation and undertaking proof-of-concept experiments to develop and apply spectroscopic SRS imaging techniques for tissue and live-cell imaging, and cancer diagnostics.

In addition to working on an exciting topic in a vibrant academic research group within a top-10 UK University, you will also gain valuable experience of commercial R&D.
