PDRA post available

This position has now been filled

A full-time postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious analytical scientist with experience in FTIR, particularly related to biomedical imaging.

The project is part of an EPSRC critical mass grant that brings together groups from Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster and Cardiff who have an interest in spectroscopic medical diagnosis.

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in chemistry, physics, analytical science or related subject. Expertise in FTIR is essential. The position is based in Manchester but will also involve working at the STFC Daresbury Laboratory to use the infrared free electron laser based SNOM system. Given the nature of the facility some unsociable hours are inevitable. Experience of synchrotron based infrared spectroscopy or infrared free electron lasers would therefore be useful but not essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and leading a small research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Peter Gardner email: peter.gardner@manchester.ac.uk
