CLIRSPEC sponsored Lorna Ashton to attend the recent SciX Conference.
Many thanks to CLIRSPEC for providing me with the opportunity to present at SCIX 2014 in Reno, Nevada.
The CLIRSPEC session presided over by Matt Baker was well attended despite being Thursday afternoon and offered an interesting and topical session on recent perspectives in clinical infrared and Raman spectroscopy. The session gave me the opportunity to present our recent research on live cell imaging using Raman spectroscopy to monitor the uptake of the anti-psoriatic drug dithranol in live HaCaT (human keratinocytes) cells and resulted in many further discussions providing useful suggestions and potential collaborations. The conference itself provided a great networking opportunity with the chance to attend a wide range of presentations in analytical chemistry and emerging technologies.
Overall, SCIX 2014 was a great networking and learning experience (and that’s not including line dancing or blackjack!)
