8–12 July 2024, Lake Windermere, UK
The International Society for Clinical Spectroscopy (CLIRSPEC) would like to invite all students, industrial colleagues and postdoctoral researchers in the multidisciplinary area of clinical infrared and Raman spectroscopy to attend the 8th CLIRSPEC Summer School.
As with last year, we will be co-hosting the Summer School with CLIRPath-AI, a UK funded network connecting clinical spectroscopy, digital pathology and artificial intelligence.
Building upon previous successful summer schools the 2024 Summer School will provide an excellent grounding in spectroscopic fundamentals through to current cutting edge clinical applications and discuss the future of vibrational spectroscopy in the clinical environment including interactive and exciting group problem-based learning sessions. This Summer School will have more of a data analysis focus than in previous years, and to accommodate that we have extended the meeting.
The Summer School will begin on Monday 8 July and end on Friday 12 July 2024 and will be held at the Low Wood Bay Resort Hotel, Lake Windermere.
Comments from previous attendees:
“It is still the best experience I have ever had. Love the location, content and people!”
“I would like to see this become even more successful.
Fantastic ideas and groups of experts all in one place.”
“This is the second time I have attended a summer school. The first was an industrial setting.
The break for the walk/ alone time, was timed perfectly for much needed battery recharging.”
“Worth the trip from Australia!”
“First of all, this is a well organised and impressive summer school.”
“Excellent. Very well organised and useful for PhD students and experienced researchers.”
Topics
The Summer School is a blend of fundamental spectroscopy with cutting-edge clinical practice.
Topics include:
- Infrared and Raman spectroscopies, instrumentation and experimental workflow
- Deep- and stimulated Raman spectroscopy
- Experimental design, multivariate statistics, machine learning and deep learning
- Tissue, cellular and biofluids analysis
- Pathology, including digital pathology and image analysis
- Health economics and translation into the clinic.
An important aspect of the Summer School is group work, using a problem-based learning approach.
In addition each attendee will be asked to give a short presentation outlining their research, or proposed area of study.
Prices
The registration fee includes all accommodation, meals and learning resources.
